Preparing the plaster :
• Use staff or moulding plaster, or cement.
• Prepare a fairly liquid plaster according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Preparing the sisal strands :
• Cut wicks of sisal fibre 20 to 30 cm long.
Soaking the strands :
• Dip the sisal strands copiously into the liquid plaster, ensuring complete impregnation.
Application :
• Apply the soaked wicks behind each stone or brick in the chimney assembly to immobilise them.
• Connect the formed cleats, creating a sort of sisal-reinforced plaster chain, ensuring a solid, stable structure.
Recommended dosage :
• Allow between 1 and 1.5 kg of sisal fibre for one chimney, depending on its size.
Cleaning at the end of the job :
• Use the sisal fibre to clean any traces of mortar, cement or plaster remaining on surfaces, rubbing gently until the residue is eliminated.
Precautions for use :
• Store sisal fibre in a dry place, away from moisture, to preserve its properties.
• Wear protective gloves when handling to avoid skin irritation.
By following these instructions, you will ensure optimum use of Pyrofeu Sisal Fibre for the assembly and maintenance of your fireplaces.
